CAC - LMJC Celebrates 25 Years of Service with Giving Campaign

The Children’s Advocacy Center-LMJC is 25 years old! It’s hard to believe, but it’s true!

This year, the CAC-LMJC will mark 25 years of providing access to free services to child abuse survivors and their families.  Over the last 25 years, the CAC-LMJC has provided services to over 5000 child abuse survivors in the four counties of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit.

To celebrate, we’re launching a fundraising campaign we call $25 for 25 Years. We are asking donors for a gift of $25, one dollar for each of the years that our center has been providing services to those who are most vulnerable. This organization is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of child abuse survivors. Your gift of $25 is an affordable way to say “thank you” and provide support for our ongoing work.

Any way you look at it, this is an amazing feat: 25 Years. Twenty. Five. Years. 9,131 days!  219,144 hours of service to child abuse survivors and promotion of child abuse awareness and prevention in our community!

Please show your support! If 500 people give $25, we can raise $12,500 together!

Welcome

The CAC-LMJC provides services for child abuse victims and their families in a child-friendly environment, which serves as a centralized location for interviewing and examining children who are victims of abuse. All services are provided upon referral from law enforcement, Department of Family and Children’s Services, and the District Attorney’s Office.

Children are interviewed by specially-trained forensic interviewers, and the cases are managed by a coordinated multidisciplinary team comprised of CAC staff, local law enforcement officers, Dept. of Family and Children’s Services, prosecutors, mental health workers, victim advocates, and medical professionals.

The CAC-LMJC multidisciplinary team collaborates to:

  • Coordinate investigations
  • Limit, when possible, the number of times each child is interviewed
  • Provide comfortable, child-friendly settings for investigative, forensic interviews
  • Reduce the child victims’ travel to numerous investigative agencies
  • Coordinate medical and mental health services
  • Increase public awareness about the incidence and impact of child abuse

The CAC-LMJC’s goal is to offer a child-friendly environment where child victims feel safe sharing their experiences, to ensure that therapeutic services necessary for healing are readily accessible, and to facilitate the prosecution of perpetrators through coordination of services.
